making rice cakes is a lot of fun and very tiring. Rice cakes or "omochi" are eaten often in the winter. They're very chewy
... and are often dumped in Miso soup, or even Maccha flavored shaved ice desserts (summer).I made this one at the international MaiMai festival at the Osaka castle park this year (2006)
