Daniel Roth, the organist of St. Sulpice in Paris has just completed recording an SACD of the famous Cavaillé-Coll organ
... built in 1890 at St. Ouen in Rouen, France. The CD will not be ready until 2007, but this is a small sample of what is coming. This is a short video I shot of Mr. Roth at the console playing Cathédrales by Vierne during the recording session. Please enjoy it and buy the CD when it is ready from www.pipeorgancds.comDaniel Roth, widely acclaimed as one of the leading French organ virtuosos, has held several prestigious positions as both pertormer and teacher. At the age of twenty he made his debut at the organ of the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre-Paris, as assistant of his teacher, Madame Rolande Falcinelli. He later succeded her as titular organist, a post which he held until 1985 when he was appointed titular organist at St-Sulpice, the famous Paris church where is predecessors were Charles-Marie Widor, Marcel Dupré and Jean-Jacques Grunenwald. Daniel Roth has been also Artist-in residence at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and chairman of the organ department at Catholic University in Washington D.C..
