L470 LARRY HOLZER Reports From NYC 05/28/09I got some video done before another rainstorm hit.The newest American Idol was... performing at the CBS Early Show and I got Kris Allen coming and going, singing and signing!! Kris strummed his guitar backed by a piano and made the few hundred fans happy on an otherwise dreary morning. Kris doesn't seem to have the star power shown by runner-up Adam Lambert. Adam's fans seemed quite a bit more enthused earlier in the week. Check out my video, you decide. Over at Central Park it was opening day of the Broadway Show Softball League. The league consists of teams made up of the current Broadway shows. A former American Idol, Constantine Maroulis who finished 6th in the 4th season is appearing in the show " Rock Of Ages " A Tony Award nominee Constantine belted out a stirring rendition of " The Star Spangled Banner " to get the season going. Also Actors Equity presented a check for $10,000 to fight AIDS. Accepting the check were current Broadway Stars Jeff Daniels [ God of Carnage , Haydn Gwynne [ Billy Elliott Andy Karl [ 9 to 5 and Hunter Foster. They all threw out the ceremonial first pitch.Showing up later to play in the game was leftfielder Colin Hanks [ Tom Hanks Son I went over to the Trump International Hotel and got some exclusive video of hot R&B couple the-Dream and blonde and beautiful, Christina Milian. What started out as a music collaboration is now a love story!! Dream has become a huge star at Def Jam Records teaming up with Tricky to create the smash hit Umbrella for Rihanna. Dream and Tricky also wrote Me Against The Music for Madonna and Britney. There are rumors the couple are engaged with the- Dream giving her a $200,000 diamond ring!!Star of " Next Day Air " Michael Epps tried sneaking by at the Trump but I caught a little glimpse of the comedianCraig T. Nelson famous for his years on TV as " Coach " checked in puffing on a big cigar. I asked if he is proud of former co-star, Bill Faggebakke of SpongeBob Squarepants Fame. Coach says he loves the " Patrick " character.A little later at " London " Hotel I caught up with another legendary TV character, Michael McKean who along with David Landers were the famed Lenny and Squiggy of the Classic " Laverne and Shirley " tv show.Michael along with friends, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest filmed the classic Rock n Roll spoof " This Is Spinal Tap" It was such a success the fake band is currently on tour.
