The Discovery Channel's Shark Week, which was inspired by the novella of the same name by Nicholas Hill of Peterborough, Ontario, first aired in summer 1987, and is a week-long series of feature television programs dedicated to facts on sharks. Shark Week is held annually, normally running in July or August.
