He has written extensively on spirituality and diverse topics in mind-body medicine. Chopra says that he has been profoundly influenced by Jiddu Krishnamurti. He has also been influenced by the teachings of Vedanta and the Bhagavad Gita. Chopra has influenced the New Thought Movement in the United States.In July 2009, Chopra, who was a friend of Michael Jackson's for 20 years, criticized the "cult of drug-pushing doctors, with their co-dependent relationships with addicted celebrities," saying he hoped Jackson's death, attributed to an overdose of a prescription drug, would be a call to action. more
