Never get Rick-Rolled again! Nov 10, 20083:58 PST
Update: We’ve turned this into a much better Firefox extension, so please download that instead.
The most annoying thing about online video is that you don’t always get what you want. Too often, you’re led astray by misleading thumbnails and mischievous Rick-Rollers.
To help with this problem, we use advanced algorithms to intelligently identify the most interesting scenes in each video and we use that information to create a nice visual summary that shows you what a video is all about with just a glance.

If you’re using VideoSurf to search for and browse videos, then you’re already being presented with these visual summaries. But, what if you’re elsewhere on the internet and stumble upon a link to a video? How are you going to be able to tell if it’s really what you want?
We’ve created a Greasemonkey script that will look for videos on Google, Yahoo and Youtube search results pages and will insert our unique visual summaries into the page to give you some more information to work with.
It takes about 10 seconds to install the script. Once you have it, everything else is automatic.
To install the script:
- 1. Install the Greasemonkey extension for FireFox and restart your browser.
- 2. Click on this link to the script and then follow the instructions on screen.
- 3. You’re done. Start searching!
Update: We’ve turned this into a much better Firefox extension, so please download that instead.

Videosurf continues to amaze me in all their innovations! Their script for Greasemonkey is just another example of getting what we want to us easily and quickly. Videosurf will soon be (if not already) the definitive video search engine on the web! Soon everyone will be able to get what they want even if they have no clue how to find it - just by using Videosurf! Keep up the good work.
