Madden NFL 2010 hit the shelves at midnight, bringing the upcoming season to your living room. One player who won’t be in the game is Michael Vick, who was signed by the Eagles just weeks after his release from prison. Also out of jail is the Charles Manson follower who tried to assassinate President Ford, and is Michael Phelps headed there after his car collided with another vehicle last night? Manson Disciple Released

Lynette ‘Squeaky’ Fromme is a free woman today. At 18, she met and fell in love with Charles Manson. At 26, she pulled a gun on then-President Gerald Ford.

After serving more than 30 years in prison, Fromme, now 60, has been released.

The story of Lynette Fromme is complicated. It’s the story of obsession, of devotion, of manipulation. While there’s no doubt that cameras will be keenly focused on what Fromme is doing now, we wanted to show you who she was then, in her own words. This interview from 1987 offers a definitive look at Fromme’s past - how she became involved with Manson, why she walked up to President Ford with a gun in her hand - and gives you a look at a woman who at the time can only be described as “confidently lost” in her own rationalization of the world around her:

Phelps Involved in Collision

Olympic champion Michael Phelps gets very little time off from the headlines. Whether he’s setting world records or being photographed smoking marijuana, Phelps has been in the spotlight almost continuously. Just weeks after a blazing rivalry between Phelps and Milorad Cavic brought swim suit technology into the spotlight, Phelps is back again after his car collided with another vehicle at a Baltimore intersection late last night.

No one in Phelps’ vehicle, including Phelps himself, reported any injuries, but the unidentified driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Vick Finds a New Home

Michael Vick no doubt remembers when he had a home with the Atlanta Falcons. He’ll never forget the home he had in Virginia, with the dog kennels in the back, which in turn gave him another new home in a jail cell. Now free and reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Vick has just been handed the keys to Lincoln Financial Field, as the Philadelphia Eagles have signed him to a 1-year, $1.6m contract for 2010.

Vick’s move-in will not be a smooth one. Some fans will never be able to forgive him for the dog fighting scandal put him in jail. Vick himself admits to having made many mistakes. In the press conference introducing Vick as the Eagles’ newest member to see what he says about the “terrible things” he’s done, and what his focus will be on during the upcoming season:

Madden NFL 2010 Released

It’s finally here, just as the NFL’s pre-season gathers steam towards the 2010 season. Madden NFL, one of the most successful and longest running video game franchise in history, released its 2010 version to fans everywhere last night at midnight.
