Jaycee Lee Dugard at 11 The terrors faced by the characters of Halloween 2 and The Final Destination this weekend are nothing compared to the suffering of Jaycee Lee Dugard, found alive after being kidnapped 18 years ago by Philip Garrido. We offer a peek inside the world Garrido created to trap and keep Jaycee Dugard. This is your Daily Surf Report, using the best videos on the web to keep you abreast of the day’s top stories.

The “Powerful, Heart-Warming Story” of Kidnap and Molestation

Convicted sex offender Philip Garrido has, both in his blog and in interviews, claimed a lot of unbelievable things. He has claimed that he was founding a church. He has claimed the ability to control sound with his mind. He claimed that he could speak “with the voice of the Angels.”

And most unbelievably, he claimed that when the public knows the “facts” behind his kidnapping of 11 year old Jaycee Lee Dugard - who he imprisoned in his back yard for 18 years, who he raped and fathered a child with when Jaycee was 14, and another when she was 18 -  those “facts” would reveal not a horrific tragedy, but “powerful, heart-warming story”.

As Jaycee Dugard reacquaints herself in seclusion with a family who has had nothing of her for 18 years but fading hopes and photographs, Garrido sits in jail, accused of a crime for which he has admitted guilt but apparently shown no remorse.

Friday Movie Round-Up: Gore Galore

It’s a great weekend for fans of horror movies. If you like watching people die on the big screen, not one but two big name franchises debut their latest in theaters tonight. The Final Destination and Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 both promise buckets of corn syrup (and computer generated) blood.

Rob Zombie is back with his revision of the storied John Carpenter franchise “Halloween”, and says he believes the sequel to his remake is the more successful movie of the two, as the first was busy building the world of Michael Meyers and this movie has given him the opportunity to finally play around in it.

The fourth installment of the Final Destination series follows the now familiar plot of the first three. Basically, you have the same story but with new characters and new, ever more creative ways of killing them off. What separates this movie from its predecessors is that it was filmed in and is being shown in 3-D. While the 3-D death effects have been far better reviewed than the acting, fans of the series will definitely want to catch this one in the theater for the full effect.
